IFMA European Muaythai Championship: DAY 1
By Michel Lecorre , Tuesday October 17, 2017
The IFMA championships began on Monday 16th October in Paris, at la Halle Carpentier. Every day, MUAYTHAITV will report to you all the fights. Here are those of this first day.
This first day started with the opening ceremony in the presence of IFMA Vice-President Stefan FOX, French Sports Minister Laura FLESSEL and President of the French Federation (FFKMDA) Nadir ALLOUACHE.
It was the Frenchman Georges GAUTHIERE and the Portuguese Antonio FARIA who fought in the opening match.
60kg - Senior Male
ANTONIO FARIA (Portugal) VS GEORGES GAUTHIERE (France)
Good at clinching, the Frenchman used his knees a lot, but he wasn't sufficiently offensive to take the advantage on FARIA. The gap widened throughout the fight and FARIA imposed his beautiful fimeu style, advancing and scoring points. Victory without contest from Portugal's ANTONIO FARIA.
75kg - Senior Male
ALEC GOLOB (Slovenia) VS OSMAN CEKEN (Turkey)
The Slovenian was knocked down during the second round, following a knee to the belly, then once again a few seconds later with a jumping knee. The referee decided to stop the fight. TKO victory TKO by OSMAN CEKEN.
75kg - Senior Male
ARKADIUSZ KRUPA (Poland) VS. YAUHEN LASHEUSKI (Belarus)
It was a rough fight overall, with a little clinching. The style of these two fighters is definitely kick-boxing and not muay thai. Poland's ARKADIUSZ got hurt but stayed on his feet. And he managed to attack his opponent with low-kick attacks and punches. But he was counted after a knee on the plexus during the last round. Victory of Belarusian YAUHEN LASHEUSKI.
75kg - Senior Male
MARTYNAS JASIUNAS (Lituania) VS KEVIN MIHALIK (Slovakia)
MARTYNAS JASIUNAS dominated the fight with a beautiful style: jumping knees and punches that shook his opponent. Finally we could see some Muay Thai! A very good fight from the Lithuanian, who is a serious contender in the championship... His style is posed, powerful. He contained his Slovakian opponent and kicked his legs with low and middle kicks, then attacked with his knees, fists or elbows. Nice victory for MARTYNAS JASIUNAS.
56kg - Junior Male
LUCA GUERRIERI (Italy) VS ANTON BATURA (Belarus)
The Belarusian was the most offensive and the hardest during the fight. He literally asphyxiated the Italian by nailing him to the ropes with jumping knees and elbows. LUCA was counted. During the last round he was exhausted, out of condition. Victory of ANTON BATURA.
56kg - Junior Male
KONSTANTINOS SARKIRIS (Greece) VS VLADIMIR SHILNOV (Russia)
KONSTANTINOS was not impressed by the large size of the Russian, he managed to reach him from the start with a jab on the nose. The Russian's nose kept on bleeding throughout the fight. KONSTANTINOS showed a real maturity, a Fimeu style. One can really feel in this young fighter that he was born for Muay Thai. A very good victory for KONSTANTINOS.
This first day of the IFMA 2017 championships finished on this fight. Lithuania's MARTYNAS JASIUNAS in the 75 kg category had the best fight of the day. We noticed in the juniors that KONSTANTINOS was very offensive against a difficult opponent.
