SITTICHAI : "GRIGORIAN is the thoughest of the 3 opponents"
GLORY 28 - Interview
By Julien LANCHAS , Friday March 11, 2016
SITTICHAI Sitsongpeenong will be in Paris on March 12th to fight in a 4-man tournament at GLORY 28. Here is his interview.
MUAYTHAITV : Marat Grigorian, Davit Kiria and Anatloy MOISEEV (who replaces Djimé Coulbaly) are also in the tournament. What can you say about them ?
SITTICHAI : I used to defeat Kiria and Grigorian. Davit Kiria is a good, strong, tough fighter, his style is limited but he is still hard to beat. Marat Grigorian punches harder and is more difficult to fight because of his unorthodox style. Anatoly Moiseev fought on the same Kunlun Fight event as me in China last January. He is much bigger and stronger fighter than Djime Coulibaly. Marat Grigorian will have a much harder fight now. I think Marat will still win but he will get more tired against Anatoly. Which will be to my advantage if we meet in the final.
Your latest fight with Glory was against Robin Van Roosmalen at Glory 25. With a step back, what do you think about the decision ?
I thought I won the fight easily. Roosmalen and his team knew they lost after the fight. But the judges had a bad and disgraceful decision. I think the Glory judges for this fight were very incompetent.
Are you looking forward to a rematch ?
Yes, of course I want a rematch very much. I am confident I will perform well enough to win the fight. But my major concern is the standard of judging. It is very important Glory uses good judges if there is a rematch.
You had two losses last year. The second one was vs Dylan Salvador. How did he defeat you ?
I got sick with a cold before the fight with Dylan Salvador. Because the weather was cold and I was doing too many promotional activities in the days before the event. When I returned to Thailand after the fight I was in bed with a fever for 2 days.
Most of your fights are in K1 as of late. Why ?
Because the prize money is better and I have have a contract with Glory and Kunlun Fight that prevents me from fighting under Muaythai rules.
Do you miss muaythai ?
Yes, of course but I think there is a better future for me fighting under kickboxing rules because the events are bigger and they pay more prize money.
Would you like to see more Thai fighters in Glory ? Do you think Thai fighters can "conquer" Glory as you do ?
Yes, It would be good to see more Thais in Glory. It depends on how determined they are to succeed and how well suited their style is for kickboxing rules. There are only a very few fighters at this time who I think would be suitable.
Which fighters would you like to face in the next Glory's ?
Robin Van Roosmalen and Giorgio Petrosyan.
